Evensong
St. Timothy's Episcopal Church Creve Coeur Missouri, near St. LouisEvensong, as structured in the Church of England and the Episcopal Church in the United States, has been sung since the 16th century. Archbishop Cranmer established the Office of Evensong in the original Book of Common Prayer (1549) by using elements found in the Roman offices of Vespers and Compline and this liturgy has survived with few changes to this day. At Saint Timothy's we offer Evensong three times per year on a Sunday afternoon near the festivals of The Epiphany; All Saint's; and Pentecost. Most of the office is sung by The Saint Timothy Choir with additional devotional music (Prelude or Postlude) provided by either the Saint Timothy Recorder Consort or the String Quartet.
